Shades of Longing
Shades of Longing
After you leave, the sky will be a dead weight,
The road a path of sorrow, wine just a bitter taste.
Everything will be like my heart,
A dull grey color; the emptiness of your absence,
The poison of memories, the dullness when we're apart,
The fleeting joy when we meet in dreams,
And the blackness when darkness covers the earth.
The sky will be a shirt heavy with tears,
The road a vein about to break,
And the glass of wine a mirror reflecting all that's lost.
So the sky may not lose its light,
The road remain a path,
And the glass of wine not a reminder,
Just a glass of wine.
