Fear of Failure

Many of us are afraid of failure, at least sometimes. But fear of failure (also called "atychiphobia") is when we allow that fear to stop us doing the things that can move us forward to achieve our goals.A failure to one person might simply be a great learning experience for someone else.

Fear of failure can be linked to many causes. For example, having critical or unsupportive parents is a cause for some people to develop excessive fear. Because they were routinely weakened or humiliated in childhood, they carry those negative feelings into adulthood. The fear of failure may have developed during childhood or a certain point in life where embarrassment, bullying, or trauma was experienced due to failing at something.

It is often normal to feel scared or have doubts when you are about to try something new. It can be committing to a relationship or engaging in unusual situations you’re not familiar with. Fear is a natural human emotion .

In the case of some people, fear keeps them focused. However, if you have the fear of failure and it holds you back from achieving your best self, this may have developed into a phobia.

'Failure is a stepping stone for success'. Many might have heard about this. If we take it like that, our failure will help us to learn from our mistakes and can be the main factor in moving forward with our life. If you fail at something, it does not mean that you have to stop there. Rising from failure is a sign of progress. You are learning and taking new steps in achieving your dreams.
