Gender Equality and Women Empowerment

Is Gender equality a human right? And why do we need gender equality?!

Gender equality prevents violence against women and girls. It is essential for economic prosperity. Societies that value women and men as equal are safer and healthier. Gender equality is a human right. Men and women face different expectations about how they should dress, behave at work and take up roles in the institution of family.

Relations between men and women, whether in the family, the workplace or the public sphere, also reflects understanding of talents, characteristics and behaviour, appropriate to men and women. Gender differs from sex in that it is social and cultural in nature rather than biological.

This concept is accepted widely among societies and they have to change over time.

"What is the differences between Gender equality and women empowerment?! " Gender equality is the process in which the society is fair to women and men. Where gender inequality exists, it is generally women who are disadvantaged in matters of decision-making and access to economic and social resources.

Achieving gender equality requires women's empowerment to ensure that they have an equal role in decision making at private and public levels. So that both women and men can fully participate as equal partners for a productive life. Equality between men and women exists when both are able to share equally in the distribution of power and both have equal opportunities for financial independence through work or setting a business, enjoy the equal access to education and the opportunity to develop personal ambition, interest, talents and share the responsibility for the home and child care etc...

We want a future world in which society is inclusive and women reach their full potential. That is why we are acting now to advance gender equality in our work places and other places. "All are equal in this world. "
