The Art of Teaching

The Art of Teaching Teaching is described as just a profession, but in truth, it is an art. Teaching is not just about conveying knowledge from one mind to another, it is about shaping character, and nurturing the potential within every learner. Teaching is also about patience, discipline and mental strength, it is about listening as much as speaking, guiding as much as instructing and understanding the unique pathway's of learner's. In this digital world, informations is in our fingertips. The teacher's role has evolved. A teacher is now a mentor, motivator, facilitator and a role model for the students. They don't just prepares students for exams, they prepare them for life. As an upcoming teacher, I would like to tell that teaching is not an easy job, but it's very interesting. But it is a job which shapes the future. Thank You  By Sagara S I Year B.A. English Language and Literature

Basheer, the Legend

Vaikom Muhammad Basheer, one of the most celebrated voices in Malayalam literature, is known for blending humor, satire, and deep human truths in simple, everyday language. His short story My Granddad Had an Elephant is a humorous yet thought-provoking narrative that examines the illusions of pride and the traps of false prestige. At its surface, the story recounts a family that once owned an elephant, a symbol of wealth and status. Even after the elephant is sold to pay off debts, the family continues to boast, “My granddad had an elephant!” This repeated assertion becomes both a joke and a tragedy, as the family’s obsession with a bygone glory blinds them to present realities and pushes them deeper into financial ruin. Vaikom Muhammad Basheer’s short story “My Granddad Had an Elephant” is a humorous and satirical piece that explores human foolishness, greed, and blind faith. The narrator recalls how his grandfather once owned a majestic elephant. After the grandfather’s death, the el...

The Exclusive Two-Member Classroom

The Exclusive Two-Member Classroom Most people imagine a classroom filled with chatter, rows of occupied desks, and the constant hum of group discussions. In my case, the reality is very different—there are only two students in my class. Yes, just two. At first, it felt unusual, almost like walking into an empty theatre for a movie. But soon, I began to see how unique and meaningful this experience could be. 1. No Back Bench Drama With only two students, there’s no concept of “back benchers.” Every seat is the front row, and every question from the teacher comes straight to us. It means we can’t disappear into the crowd and our presence is always felt. 2. Teacher’s Undivided Attention In most classrooms, teachers have to divide their focus among dozens of students. Here, the teaching feels almost like a one-on-one conversation. The teacher notices exactly where we struggle, and explanations can be adjusted instantly to suit our pace. 3. Faster and Deeper Learning Without a large g...
